26 April 2021

Edition no. 53 of the Classical Concours was held online due to corona measures. Almost four hundred young musicians from the Netherlands and Flanders participated in the preliminary rounds. Seventeen of them, among them 5 of the Royal Conservatoire, got selected for the national finale.

Adinda van Delft on violin won the first prize in category 1.
Steije Maurer on marimba won the first price in category 2 and Anna Maring on violin got the second price in this category.

The prize was awarded by a professional jury led by the soprano Francis van Broekhuizen.

Fragments of the jury report:
Due to her rich and full tone, her broad diversity in colours and bowings and her strong technical control Adinda could convince the jury unanimously right away.
Steije convinced the jury about his connection with his instrument and the impact of both his soft as his loud tone. In his performance, he explored the boundaries of the marimba.
About Anna, the jury said that she played the different styles of the pieces in her varied program in a convincing matter.

You can still watch all performances on the YouTube channel of the Prinses Christina Concours.
