Emerging Talent Award for Student Vocal

12 March 2025

During the first edition of the 2025 Farinelli Competition in Karlsruhe, our vocal student Lidor Ram Mesika won the Young Talent Prize ('Nachwuchspreis (U25)'). This prize is awarded to promising young singers who excel in technique, musicality, and stage presence.

The Farinelli Competition, named after the famous 18th-century castrato singer Farinelli, is a new international competition for countertenors up to the age of 35. The competition focuses on discovering young opera talent. Participants were judged on their technique, musicality, repertoire knowledge, and stage presence by a jury of renowned opera professionals, including Max Emanuel Cencic and Vivica Genaux.

Our Master's student Lidor Ram Mesika, under the guidance of Principal Singing Teacher Noa Frenkel, impressed the jury with his vocal technique, expressive delivery, and strong stage presence. As a result, he was awarded the Young Talent Prize ('Nachwuchspreis (U25)'), which is presented to the most promising young singer under the age of 25. Watch his performance here.

Congratulations, Lidor!
