Annelies Van Parys (°1975) has a special love for the orchestral apparatus. Her harmonic richness and colorful writing are internationally acclaimed.

In addition, she writes solo and chamber music works and has a strong preference for opera and music theatre. Since 2007, she has been a resident composer of Muziektheater Transparant.
She has received direct commissions from venues or organisations such as the Belgian National Orchestra, Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin, Folkoperan Stockholm, Biennale Musica di Venezia, Concertgebouw Orkest Amsterdam, and the Ernst von Siemens Foundation, and she has written for ensembles including Recherche Freiburg, Ictus Ensemble, Asko/Schoenberg, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, and SWR Vocalensemble.
Annelies Van Parys is currently Professor of Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, a department of the Erasmus University College Brussels.
