Boris Bezemer (*1992) composes music for ensembles, orchestras, opera and robots. Drawing on programming and algorithmic approaches, he creates environments where different kinds of voices flow together in a comforting kind of turbulence.
Bezemer studied Composition and Music Technology in Utrecht and Composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As part of his studies, he was a visiting student at the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM) at the University of Huddersfield and at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia.
His music has been presented by the Dutch National Opera and at festivals including November Music, Gaudeamus, Dag in de Branding and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. He has received commissions from Orgelpark, Pynarello, Orkest de Ereprijs and Het Muziek. As a member of Conlon Collective, Bezemer develops projects for automated instruments such as Disklavier and hyperorgan.
