Margriet van Duijvenbode is an educational coordinator for the shortened (Verkort) and lateral-entry (Zij-instroom) Music Teacher programmes within the Music Teacher department at the University of Applied Sciences (hbo). She is also a principal subject teacher of voice at Young KC, provides vocal lessons to Bachelor students in the shortened and lateral-entry Music Teacher programmes, and coaches full-time Music Teacher students during their student progress reviews.
Margriet is a creative entrepreneur in music and has gained extensive experience in both fields over recent years. She studied Music Education and Jazz Vocals at the Royal Conservatoire and has been working in both disciplines since graduating. In 2013, she founded the Amsterdam Zang Academie (Amsterdam Vocal Academy), which grew into a thriving hub in the heart of Amsterdam where teachers and students inspire one another. She also has broad experience in the music education sector as a specialist music teacher and as a developer of music education projects both in the Netherlands and abroad. As a vocalist, Margriet is a member of The Junction, a professional vocal ensemble she founded in 2012.
With The Junction, Margriet has performed in concerts, tours, and masterclasses internationally, won global awards, and released multiple albums. She has collaborated with artists such as Ellen ten Damme, Herman van Veen, The Handsome Poets, and the Ricciotti Ensemble, as well as renowned international vocal groups like Rajaton, The Real Group, and The Swingle Singers. This has allowed her to perform not only at major pop venues in the Netherlands, but also in prestigious concert halls like the Concertgebouw and on tours throughout Dutch theatres. In addition to her work with The Junction, Margriet has extensive experience as a performing music professional in various other projects and bands.
