Inês d'Avena and Stefan Temmingh appointed as new recorder teachers

The Early Music Department of the Royal Conservatoire of Den Haag is extremely proud and happy to announce the successors of Daniël Brüggen. Effective September 2025, Inês d'Avena (75%) and Stefan Temmingh (25%) will, as a team, jointly share responsibility for the recorder class.
About Inês d'Avena
Recorder player Inês d'Avena is known for her refined virtuosity and unique timbre, and blends these qualities as a performer with her engaging work as a researcher and teacher. Praised for performing "as if the recorder were her mother tongue", she specializes in the research and performance of Italian Baroque Music, and has also been passionately working on the revival of forgotten Italian Baroque recorders, commissioning copies and premiering the instruments in concerts and recordings worldwide. About Stefan Temmingh
Stefan Temmingh, a South African recorder player, is one of the internationally leading soloists in his field. German radio SWR Kultur describes him as ‘one of the great recorder virtuosos of our time’. In 2022, he received the prestigious German OPUS Klassik Award for his CD Leipzig 1723 in the category ‘Concerto Recording of the Year’. Born in Cape Town, he now lives in Munich and Freiburg.
