Radio NPO 4‘s series ‘Made in NL’ broadcasts this month concerts by Dutch orchestras, ensembles and composers. We are immensely honoured that sunday 31 May NPO Radio 4 will dedicate a whole evening to the Royal Conservatoire. On this Sunday, you can listen to four recordings featuring students in cooperation with noteworthy musicians and ensembles such as alumnus Reinbert de Leeuw, alumna Rosanne Philippens and the Residentieorkest. All recordings have been made by our own Art of Sound team!
Our Main Subject Teacher Orchestral Conducting and conductor Jac van Steen looked back with us on a memorable project. The concert was recorded in the Arnold Schönbergzaal of the Royal Conservatoire: "It was a very well-balanced repertoire that we performed that night. The viola concert by modern composer Henk Badings was a nice addition to the romantic pieces by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky. We had an outstanding soloist in Elisa Karen Tavenier. She has the potential to play on the big stages internationally. The cooperation with the Art of Sound Department coordinated by Daan van Aalst was an important addition the learning process of our students. It’s projects like this that create the perfect bridge between studying and the professional practice. I am certain that many of the young talents I saw in this project, I will soon see again in one of the big orchestras.
The concert will be aired on 31 May at 8pm on Radio NPO4. You can later listen back to the concert via the NPO4 website.
