Joost Geevers is a trombone player, conductor, composer and writer. He studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. As a trombonist he freelances with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the The Hague Philharmonic, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Holland Symfonia, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dutch National Opera and the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble.

Whilst studying he gained wide experience as a conductor and was assistant conductor both with The Hague Philharmonic and the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble. He conducted the Dutch premiere of Ives’s Universe Symphony with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and Stockhausen’s Hochzeiten aus Sonntag aus Licht with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. The premiere of the Universe Symphony was so successful that the performance was repeated a year later in the prestigious Cité de la Musique in Paris and other venues. In the 2008-2009 season he conducted the Ligeti Academy of the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble.

Joost Geevers is actively involved in promoting new music both at home and abroad, including performances with ensembles such as the Ives Ensemble, Slagwerk Den Haag, the Aarhus Sinfonietta, Ensemble Klang, the Ensemble de Musica Contemporanea de Illes Balears and the Hafnia Chamber Orchestra. He is co-founder and musical director of the contemporary music and theatre group Fast Opera Productions, and is also the musical director of The Diamond Factory (de Diamantfabriek) production company.

He is a teacher at the Codarts Rotterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague where is teaching 'The Historical Development of the Brass Instruments' at the Early Music department.
