Each year, the Vocal Studies and Classical Music Departments of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague embark on an intense operatic sprint: a fully staged production realised in just two weeks. This year's project is Maurice Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges.
Students from the Vocal Studies Department step into a kaleidoscope of characters, navigating Ravel's intricate and imaginative score, while a chamber ensemble from the Classical Music Department brings the music to life under the baton of Jac van Steen.
Fast, focused and uncompromising, this project demands agility, resilience and creative daring, offering audiences a rare glimpse into high-level music-making under pressure, where immediacy and invention drive the performance.
