Ryan Bancroft, alumnus of the National Master in Orchestral Conducting, has been announced as Chief Conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, from the 2023/24 season.

Bancroft’s first performance as Chief Conductor Designate was the prestigious Nobel Prize Concert on December 8, 2021. The concert is available to watch worldwide via the Nobel Prize YouTube channel.

Bancroft is also Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Artist in Association with the Tapiola Sinfonietta and was recently announced the winner of the Conductor Award at the 2021 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, UK.

Recent engagements have included the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, City of Birmingham Symphony and Gothenburg Symphony, and in spring 2022 he will make his debut with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Toronto Symphony and Ensemble Intercontemporain. Further ahead he will be making debuts with both the Minnesota Orchestra, Dallas Symphony and Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ryan Bancroft (Los Angeles, 1989) graduated from the National Master in Orchestral Conducting in 2017, a prestigious two-year master’s programme offered jointly by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. This programme is presented in cooperation with several professional Dutch orchestras, including the Residentie Orkest, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra.
