Crossing Bridges: Music Education in History
Crossing Bridges is the annual symposium organised by the Early Music Department of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. It brings together students, teachers, researchers and invited experts for a day of dialogue, exchange and exploration. Each edition focuses on a shared theme while creating connections between the Early Music Department and other departments within the conservatoire.
This year’s symposium is dedicated to the history of music education. Through lectures, discussions, workshops and presentations, participants will explore how musical knowledge has been transmitted across different periods, traditions and institutions, and how historical approaches continue to shape contemporary educational practice.
The symposium provides a collaborative space where perspectives from performance, pedagogy and research come together. The day concludes with an Early Music Seminar, which is open to the public.
