The Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA) is a two-year master’s programme for highly talented young opera singers who want to develop their skills in both singing and acting. With a Master of Music degree from DNOA, you graduate as an inventive and dedicated opera artist, fully prepared for the demanding challenges of the profession. The programme is designed to help you grow into a creative, adaptable and confident performer.
After completing your bachelor’s degree in vocal studies, you can apply for the DNOA master’s programme. This two-year course is a collaboration between the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Each year, only a limited number of gifted students are admitted.
Performance lies at the heart of the DNOA curriculum. You learn most by being on stage, and DNOA therefore produces two full opera productions every year, working with professional orchestras such as the Residentie Orkest. You receive individual tuition, group classes, audition training, workshops and masterclasses. Throughout the programme you regularly perform on major stages in the Netherlands, including the Royal Concertgebouw and the stage of Dutch National Opera. You also have the opportunity to gain further stage experience by taking part in large-scale productions of Dutch National Opera.
