Corelli Strepitoso conducted by Fabio Bonizzoni
In the course of research into historical sources, Fabio Bonizzoni discovered that around 1700 parts of Corelli's famous Concerti Grossi for strings might have been performed with the addition of brass instruments at important public events in Rome. As far as is known, the scores have not been preserved. Basing himself on surviving music for wind instruments from around 1700, Bonizzoni reconstructed stirring additional music for trumpet and trombone. This festive concert reflects the interaction of music research and practice in precisely the manner envisioned by the Royal Conservatoire.
