Last week, HF JAMU and KC tested the capabilities of a newly developed technology called MVTP, created by Czech developers from CESNET. The project encompassed several activities, including a concert by various students, masterclass and interviews with musicians and technical staff regarding the aforementioned technology.
The MVTP technology enables network video and audio transmissions superior to HDTV with an added latency of less than 1 millisecond. The device delay is so small that, after adding network delay, real-time delay-critical applications can be realized over long distances. For example, musicians can play together in real time between cities and countries.
The MVTP technology is already available in several European universities and we had a unique opportunity to try this technology too.
