The Early Music Department is very happy to announce that Neven Lesage will be the interim teacher for Baroque oboe for the academic year 25/26.
After studying modern oboe, Neven Lesage decided to devote himself to the historical oboe. He first studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, followed by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
In 2016–2017, Lesage was selected as the first oboist to join the European Union Baroque Orchestra. He is now a regular member of major early music ensembles such as Les Arts Florissant (conducted by William Christie), Les Ambassadeurs (conducted by Alexis Kossenko) and Gli Incogniti (conducted by Amandine Beyer).
He is also the co-founder of Ensemble Sarbacanes, which was established to perform music written for wind instruments from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods. In 2021, he founded a new ensemble, Projet INEFABULA, which aims to explore a broader repertoire, ranging from early Baroque to late Romantic. Since 2020, he has been coordinating a research project at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles on French oboes of the Baroque period.
Welcome, Neven!
