Gertjan Loot

Teacher orchestral parts trumpet (Classical Department)

Gertjan Loot was born in Limburg. After moving to Friesland he starts playing the trumpet at the age of eleven. After playing (es) cornet in various brass bands for a while, he eventually picket up the trumpet again. He decided to study trumpet at the Conservatory in Leeuwarden. After studying there Gertjan stusied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam where he is taught by Peter Masseurs (trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra). After graduating in 1990 he played in various orchestras and ensembles. Besides playing modern trumpet Gertjan Loot also plays baroque trumpet, flugelhorn and piccolo. At present he is working as baroque trumpettist in various baroque orchestras at home and abroad. Since 2004 he has worked as a soloist at The Hague Philharmonic and since 2006 he has been involved in the ensemble New Amsterdams Peil.
