Wieke Karsten

Flutist Wieke Karsten studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and in England with the famous flute pedagogue, Trevor Wye.

Her interest in teaching already came to light as a student and upon graduation she was appointed as flute teacher at the conservatoires of both The Hague and Groningen. She developed the method ‘Music making, practicing and the brain’ and gives summer courses, masterclasses, workshops and lectures in the Netherlands and abroad. Her articles on teaching and music making are being published in several music magazines in Holland, Belgium and Germany. She keeps a blog 'Aandacht voor de musicus' and participates in an international network on practicing and performing.

As a professor, she also teaches at the Dutch Flute Academy
