De Stadswacht Studio Opening
On 28 November, De Stadswacht will open its doors to the public for the first time. Visitors are invited to celebrate the launch of this growing community of makers in the Binckhorst. During the opening, guests can explore the building, step inside workshops, offices and studios, and see the wide range of work created within the space.
The new studio environment brings together current students and alumni of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague and the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, alongside members of the broader makers’ community in The Hague. Participants represent departments including ArtScience, Interior Architecture, Interactive/Media/Design, Non Linear Narrative, Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Photography.
About De Stadswacht
De Stadswacht is a developing studio space, workshop and artist community located in the Binckhorst district of The Hague. Since the 1980s, the building has quietly witnessed the area’s transformation, looking out over changing streets, demolition sites and new façades. Over recent months, its new inhabitants have restored and revitalised the space. Today, more than 150 local makers, artists, collectives, small businesses and organisations share four floors. This intergenerational community spans a wide range of crafts and disciplines, from music, technology, education and dance to repair, photography, design, fine arts, architecture and motor mechanics.
De Stadswacht grows through collaboration, mutual support and shared curiosity. From 2026, its event space De Etalagewill open to the wider public, offering a venue for exhibitions, gatherings and collective learning.
