The Rite of Spring with the Residentie Orkest

Master students from the Classical Department perform alongside the Residentie Orkest in a bold and exhilarating programme conducted by Antony Hermus.

The concert culminates in Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring – a groundbreaking work whose 1913 premiere famously caused a riot. On Sunday, the programme also features Short Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams, and L’Élue by Bram Kortekaas, a modern prelude exploring the emotional world of the chosen one in Stravinsky’s narrative.

At the heart of the concert is the world premiere of Willem Jeths’ Piano Concerto, written for the Residentie Orkest and pianist Ellen Corver, also main subject teacher at the Royal Conservatoire.
