The entrance exam consists of a practical and a theoretical part. You will have to be successful in both parts in order to secure a place.
Practical Entrance Exam
You should prepare a program of ca. 20 minutes, of which ca. 15 minutes will be chosen by the audition panel in the exam. The programme selection should represent several styles and periods. The practical exam serves the aim to evaluate you in terms of musicality, technical ability, level of stylistic knowledge and affinity with the performed repertoire.
The following programme or similar pieces should be prepared for the audition:
- One of the first few Sonatas from the Méthode by Lefèvre.
- A movement from the clarinet concerto no. 3 in Bb by Carl Stamitz.
- Any orchestral solo part.
Theoretical section entrance exam
The theory section consists of:
- a written hearing test
- a written test in general music theory
- an individual practical solfège test
