Deborah Witteveen

Teacher Saxophone

Deborah Witteveen (1995) is a versatile saxophonist, active as a performer and teacher. She studied with Johan van der Linden at HKU Utrechts Conservatorium and with Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She graduated cum laude from both her Bachelor of Music (2017) and Master of Music (2020) programmes.

Deborah is active as a chamber musician and enjoys working on interdisciplinary projects. She currently plays baritone saxophone in the Ardemus Quartet. She is also part of the music theatre collective Neo-Fanfare 9x13. Together with bassoonist Thomas Dulfer, she forms a duo that was one of the finalists of the prestigious Dutch Classical Talent 2022–2023. Since 2015, she has also formed a duo with pianist Maxime Snaterse. As finalists of the British Young Classical Artist Trust, they performed at Wigmore Hall in London in May 2024. Deborah also performs with larger ensembles and orchestras such as the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Residentie Orkest.

In addition to her performing career, Deborah is a passionate saxophone teacher. She has received prizes at various music competitions in the Netherlands, including the Prinses Christina Concours and Classic Young Masters. She has participated in masterclasses with, among others, Claude Delangle, Vincent David, and Nobuya Sugawa. Together with the Ardemus Quartet, she studied at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy.
