Ron Dames studied aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Delft. Since 1983 he has worked at the Royal Conservatoire as teacher of mathematics and physics at the departments of Art of Sound and Sonology. These days he teaches Mathematics and Physics in the first and second year of Art of Sound. In these classes, a connection is made between the background knowledge of secondary school and the necessary knowledge to follow the technical subjects at Art of Sound.

Since 1984 he has worked as a teacher of mathematics and physics at the Coornhert Gymnasium in Gouda. As coordinator of the school, he contributed to the development of a continuous learning scheme Research skills for science subjects. He has also been involved in the development of courses such as Technical Design and Nature, Life and Technology.

He has worked as author on mathematics method Network. He has also worked on modules for the subject mathematics D. These days he develops a digital mathematics method for the first stage of secondary school with a colleague.
