The internationally oriented Master’s specialisation in Music Education according to the Kodály method (which is taught in English) trains students as a specialist in teaching music according to the Kodály concept. Students learn to apply knowledge and practical skills in teaching music, both instrumental and singing, in schools and elsewhere.
Tussen 2016 en 2019 werkte onze Kodály masteropleiding samen met het Kodály Institute van de Liszt Academie in Budapest, het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Schotland in Glasgow en de Nationale Jeugdkoren van Nederland en Schotland in een Erasmus+ Partnership Programme. Al deze partners gebruiken de Kodály-werkwijze. De Kodályhub is een van de eindproducten van dit intensieve internationale samenwerkingsproject.
In the years 2016 to 2019 our Kodály master's studies collaborated with the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Budapest, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow and the National Youthchoirs of the Netherlands and Scotland in an Erasmus+ Partnership Programme. Al these partners make use of the Kodály-method. The Kodályhub is one of the end products of this intensive international collaboration.
Especially for people who would like to know more about the Kodály method, there will be a Masterclass weekend on the 9th and 10th of April in Amare. Several different aspects of music education according to the Kodaly method will be discussed.

Muziek als Vak
De opleiding ‘Muziek als Vak’ aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium richt zich op muziekeducatie volgens de Kodálywerkwijze. De naam ‘Muziek als Vak’ geeft aan dat muziek een vak is dat je als beroep kunt uitoefenen, en dat het een vak is dat je kunt leren als onderdeel van je algemene ontwikkeling, bij voorkeur op school.
De opleiding begon in 2010 met een aanvraag bij het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap (OCW) binnen de regeling ‘Krachtig Meesterschap’, die was bedoeld om schoolvakken een nieuwe impuls te geven. Binnen het conservatorium in Den Haag was het besef gegroeid dat muziek in het reguliere onderwijs niet de plaats had die het verdiende, waardoor een brede muzikale vorming voor veel leerlingen niet meer vanzelfsprekend was. Een belangrijke vraag was: besteden we naast het opleiden van professionele musici genoeg aandacht aan goed muziekonderwijs voor alle kinderen?
Inhoudelijk werd gekozen voor de Kodály-werkwijze, omdat daarmee een heldere vakmatige langetermijnontwikkeling mogelijk is, onafhankelijk van muziekgenre of repertoire. Om de nieuwe vorm van het schoolvak ‘Muziek’ mogelijk te maken, bleek een na- en bijscholingsprogramma nodig voor docenten, leerkrachten en musici. Dit werd ‘Muziek als Vak’. Vanuit dat programma is later de masterspecialisatie ‘Music Education according to the Kodály Concept’ ontstaan. Studenten van deze masterspecialisatie hebben een belangrijke bijdrage geleverd aan de ontwikkeling van de Kodályhub.
