Curriculum
The Young KC Junior programme currently includes the following instruments: piano, violin, cello, double bass, recorder, percussion, harp, accordion, horn, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trombone and saxophone. This programme is designed for pupils aged 7 to 10 who demonstrate above-average development on their instrument and strong potential for further growth. Due to the unique characteristics of each instrument, the curriculum is not identical for all. All pupils attend the Broad Musical Development class on Wednesday afternoons. In addition, they receive weekly individual instrumental lessons, and, if there are enough participants per instrument, group lessons are also offered. The Junior programme also includes a jazz combo and a string orchestra (AKO mini).
Progress
Pupils' progress within Young KC Junior is monitored during lessons, ensemble activities and concerts. Parents are in direct contact with the instrumental teachers, allowing regular discussions about their child’s development. At least one child-parent-teacher meeting is held each year. When progress is satisfactory, the Junior programme typically lasts two years. If teachers believe a pupil is ready for the next step, they may be invited to prepare for admission to Young KC.
