Bachelor: Career Skills

Our Career Skills courses in the performance departments cover both soft and hard skills to prepare students for a professional career. These courses are incorporated in the curriculum to provide an integrated and continuous learning trajectory from year one up to and including year four (B1-4). The four Career Skills courses are Start-Up!, Entrepreneurial Bootcamp, Meet the Professionals and Preparation for Professional Practice.

“Meet the Professionals was much more than just a course. It was a wake-up call.” – B3 student on Meet the Professionals

“I think this course helped and inspired me a lot. It helped me to gain self-confidence about my musicianship: it’s a good thing to make yourself visible etc. What I particularly liked is the perspective of having a hybrid career. In that way I don’t feel pressured to ‘make it ’, because I can do a lot more things than just performing music.” B4 student on Preparation for Professional Practice

Explore New Playgrounds

An intensive week in which Bachelor 2 students explore how to meet new audiences and be meaningful as an artist in society, performing together with others and for a specific audience. New playgrounds will be explored around Theater De Regentes: a marvelous theatre run by members of the local community and located in a very lively part of The Hague. Students are invited to create short musical interventions or performances that will make a difference in the lives of people living in this neighbourhood. Differences that creative musicians can make.
