Saxofonist António Paulo Martins Melo (20 jaar) heeft de 1e prijs gewonnen op het Prinses Christina Concours. Hij is Bachelor 2 student aan de afdeling Klassieke Muziek en studeert bij Raaf Hekkema. Hij won de MBT Prijs Klassiek t.w.v. 1.000 euro, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ Prijs, Kunst in de Kamer Prijs, Jeugdorkest Nederland Prijs en Amare Prijs. Van harte gefeliciteerd!

'On April 22nd, I participated in the final of the Prinses Christina Concours. It was a life-changing event that made me evolve with each performance. I played Prelude, Cadence et Finale by Alfred Desenclos in all the phases of the competition. Some of the jury members didn't know the piece at all, so, they told me it was a very pleasant surprise to listen to this refined piece of French repertoire, which actually breaks some of the standards of French music. The most acclaimed point was the ensemble playing with the pianist Maria Nemtsova in which our hard work was rightfully acknowledged.'
