Alumna Barbara Hannigan completed the Master Classical Music Vocal Studies at the Royal Conservatoire.

Barbara:

“As an alumna from the Operaklas of 1995-96, that special year was a vital part of my introduction to European musical life. I was green, eager, and inspired to learn from the wealth of teachers and guest artists who frequented the conservatoire. I met friends and mentors who remain an important part of my musical world today, and I am still learning from the experiences I had more than 20 years ago. I loved the cross-collaborations between students in early music, modern music, sonology, composition, opera, jazz: a rich landscape! One of the most important connections I made was with recording producer Guido Tichelman, a student at the same time as me, with whom I’ve made my latest several cd recordings, two with Reinbert de Leeuw, and also our Grammy-winning cd with the Ludwig Orchestra, a fabulous collective of musicians, many of whom also are alumni of the KC!”
