Filip Mišković winner of the 2026 Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition

Royal Conservatoire alum Filip Mišković has won First Prize at the 2026 Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition in Benicàssim, Spain. The Croatian guitarist recently completed his Master's in Classical Music at the Royal Conservatoire, where he studied with Zoran Dukić.
The 59th edition of the competition took place from 27 August to 4 September. Filip was awarded First Prize, with fellow Croatian guitarist Luka Lovreković taking Second Prize. Portuguese guitarist Francisco Luís received both the Audience Prize and the Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Work by Francisco Tárrega.
About the competition
Founded in 1967, the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition is considered the oldest classical guitar competition of its kind in Europe. Open to guitarists under 35 from around the world, it has a particular focus on the music of Spanish guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega. Over the years, the competition has helped launch the international careers of many guitarists, with previous winners including David Russell, Raphaëlla Smits, Ana Vidović, and Alí Arango.
About Filip Mišković
Filip is a rising presence on the international classical guitar scene. His performances have taken him to concert halls across Europe, and he has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Zagreb Philharmonic and Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Alongside an impressive record of competition successes, he was named Young Musician of the Year 2025 by the Zagreb Philharmonic. In 2025, he also won First Prize, the Audience Prize and the award for Best Performance of a Spanish Musical Work at the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition.
Filip completed his second Master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, studying with Zoran Dukić, himself a winner of the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition in 1994.
