Audit and Programme reviews

All programmes at the Royal Conservatoire have been reviewed with a positive outcome by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).

The Act on Higher Education and Academic Research regulates that all higher education programmes in the Netherlands should be accredited every six years. For these accreditations, programmes are assessed by a panel of independent (international) experts (peer review) approved by NVAO. Following the visit, the review panel prepares an assessment report, which serves as the basis for the NVAO’s decision in whether to continue the accreditation. The NVAO conclusion underpins the recognition of higher education programmes in the Netherlands.

As a required component of the NVAO accreditation process, the ‘development dialogue’ provides the opportunity for the programmes to discuss possible improvements and developments with the review panel.

In addition to the requirements of the NVAO, the Conservatoire makes use of the internationally recognized procedures, standards and experts MusiQuE – Music Quality Enhancement, the international quality assurance agency for music and arts education. The MusiQuE assessment framework has been developed and recognised for the review for music and arts institutions and programmes at an international level and is thus particularly relevant for the Royal Conservatoire’s degree programmes with a strong international professional profile.
