Deregistration and Restitution

Students must submit a personal request for deregistration. The request can be submitted via Studielink or in an email addressed to studentadministration@koncon.nl.

The Student Administration department of the Education Service Centre (ESC) will handle the request for cancellation of the student’s registration and will notify the relevant department and the Financial Administration department via an email to studyfees@hdkdenhaag.nl. The Financial Administration department will send the letter confirming deregistration and, where applicable, arrange reimbursement of any excess tuition fees paid.

Students who pay the statutory tuition fees

Students who pay the statutory tuition fees can cancel their enrolment with effect from the first of the month following the date of receipt of the request for deregistration. These students are entitled to a refund of the tuition fees for the remaining months of the period of enrolment. No tuition fees will be refunded if you terminate your registration as a student in July or August (see Article 7.48.4 of the Higher Education and Research Act below).

Students who are still enrolled for another programme in the university are not entitled to restitution. Nor are they entitled to a refund if a Declaration of Tuition Fee Payment has been issued for another educational institution.

Students who pay the institutional tuition fees

Students who pay the institutional tuition fees may terminate their registration prematurely, but are are not entitled to reimbursement of excess fees paid except in the case of the student’s death.

Restitution can only be granted in exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the management and at the personal request of the student. In that case, the amount to be reimbursed will be paid on the first of the month following the date of receipt of the request. Tuition fees are never reimbursed if the registration is terminated in the months of July or August.

Students who are still enrolled for another programme in the university are also not entitled to restituion.

Awarding of diploma

Students who graduate in the course of an academic year are always entitled to restitution of the tuition fees and will be reimbursed for the remaining months of that academic year. The student is not required to submit an explicit request for restitution. Tuition fees are never reimbursed if the registration is terminated in the months of July or August.

Note: whenever there is a right to restitution, the excess amount to be repaid will be deposited in the account from which the original payment was made.

The amount to be repaid will always be transferred only after the cancellation period (56 days after the last direct debit) has elapsed.

Article 7.48.4 Higher Education and Research Act

The student is entitled to the reimbursement of a twelfth of the statutory tuition fee owed by him/her for every month that the academic year lasts after the termination of his/her enrolment, unless a payment arrangement has been made, as defined in Article 7.47, section b. If a student dies during the course of the academic year, a twelfth of the statutory tuition fee that has been paid will be reimbursed for every subsequent month of the academic year following the student's death. If the enrolment is terminated with effect from July or August, the student is not entitled to terminate payment of the instalments as described in Article 7.47, section b, or to reimbursement of the tuition fees paid for those months, unless otherwise regulated by the board of the institution. This section does not apply to the Open University.

Course participants must personally submit a request for deregistration to the relevant department. The department will then notify the Student Administration department of the Education Service Centre (ESC) by sending an email to studentadministration@koncon.nl

Student Administration will handle the request for cancellation of the student’s registration and, if the student is entitled to restitution, notify the Financial Administration department via an email to studyfees@hdkdenhaag.nl.

Course participants/contract students (preparatory year, Artist Certificate, Contract education, Muziek als vak, Sonology course)

Course participants pay the course fees in a single payment and are not entitled to reimbursement of the fees if they cancel their enrolment before the end of the course.

Restitution of the fees can only be granted in exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the management and on request by the course participant. In that case, the course fees will be refunded on the first of the month following the date of receipt of the request. Course fees are never reimbursed if the registration is terminated in July or August.

School for Young Talent, regular primary or secondary education

(The parents of) the students in every department of the School for Young Talent pay course fees. In the event of interim deregistration, (the parents of) the student are not entitled to restitution of the course fees that have been paid.

However, if the registration is cancelled on the basis of a serious recommendation by the relevant programme that the student should leave the programme, one-tenth of the course fees may be refunded for each month of the academic year after the student’s registration has been cancelled.
