The Muziek als Vak course will also be offered in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Classes take place on 8 Saturdays (once a month) and study weekends in November and April. The course days are held at the Royal Conservatoire. The course Muziek als Vak falls under the so-called 'contract education' at the Royal Conservatoire. The course is designed for anyone interested in music education, such as primary school teachers with an interest in music education, musicians interested in group teaching, and music teachers or subject specialists who wish to enhance their expertise. You do not need to take an entrance exam or have completed a prior music education to enroll.
NEW! Muziek als Vak 2
Starting in September 2023, we are also offering a follow-up course: Muziek als Vak 2. This continuation of Muziek als Vak will also take place in 2025-2026. In this course, we build on the level achieved in Muziek als Vak and delve even deeper into the topics and skills from the course. While it is, of course, a fantastic standalone course, we hope to provide an even better preparation for the Master of Music According to the Kodály Concept.
We are thrilled to announce that László Nemes will join our teaching team for Muziek als Vak and the Master Kodály starting in September 2023. With László’s appointment at the Royal Conservatoire, the one-year Muziek als Vak course and its follow-up course, Muziek als Vak 2, will gain a new dimension. This wonderful addition to our core teaching team ensures ample attention for both Dutch and internationally oriented music education based on the Kodály Concept. For the development of your own skills, you can take Musicianship lessons at various levels, from curious beginner to experienced musician. In the Methodology classes, the content is tailored to different professional contexts, ensuring that the knowledge offered is always up-to-date and relevant. Collective sessions, Choir, and Songs & Games are other popular components of each course day.
“At Muziek als Vak, various methods and ideas are offered to analyze and approach a song or piece of music. You can endlessly vary with them. Together with learning rhythm language and solmization, this gave me a wealth of inspiration and a clearer vision of music education. A new world of music has opened up for me.”
– Judith van Vliet, participant Muziek als Vak 2019-2020
