In a diverse, artistic environment in which boundaries between genres and disciplines are increasingly blurring, Vocal Studies students of the Royal Conservatoire learn to create new and individual ways to express themselves as artists.
From the 2025/2026 academic year, the Royal Conservatoire will offer the MasterSpecialisation Ensemble Singing. This two-year programme is a unique collaboration between the Royal Conservatoire and the Netherlands Chamber Choir and is the place where singers are trained to become the ensemble and choral singers of the future.
What does the Masterspecialisation Ensemble Singing involve?
The Master Specialisation Ensemble Singing is part of the regular master's programme in Classical Music Vocal Studies or Early Music Vocal Studies, and is intended for singers who want to deepen their knowledge of ensemble and choral singing in addition to solo singing. During the specialisation, you will form a vocal quartet together with one or two fellow students and two singers from the Netherlands Chamber Choir (NKK) with which you will have monthly in-depth theme sessions.
Internships and practical experience with the Dutch Chamber Choir
An important part of the specialisation are internships at NKK that consist of rehearsals and/or concerts with the NKK. In this way, the specialisation Ensemble Singing contributes to a good connection between study and professional field.
